Erin (age 6) was born with a rare genetic neurological disorder which means her brain
has not completely formed. Erin also suffers from epileptic episodes that can be as
regular as every 20 minutes, 24 hours a day. In many ways Erin is like a 9 month old
baby, so she needs constant care and support, which places a significant strain on her
whole family.

Commonwealth Bank cooks for a cause

39 Commonwealth Bank (CBA) Branches across Victoria from the inner suburbs of Melbourne to Horsham, Cobram, Mt Beauty and beyond, are holding a BBQ Day on Friday 11 September to show their support for the 2009 Piggy Bank Appeal, the biggest annual fundraiser for Very Special Kids which aims to raise over $1 million to support families of children with life-threatening illnesses. Giant Pigs head out across regional Victoria

Meet George the giant pig! George is not your average piggy bank. He weighs in at a whopping 700kg, is almost 3 metres tall, 5 metres long and 2 metres wide. He also has a big responsibility – to bring home the bacon with a belly filled with donations for Very Special Kids. This year, the organisation aims to raise more than $1 million from the Piggy Bank Appeal, so it can continue supporting families of children with life-threatening illnesses. In the name of football and charity, Premier John Brumby and Opposition Leader Ted Baillieu shook hands today and bet $20 each on the result of the Preliminary Final between Collingwood and Geelong, with the winnings to be donated to the Very Special Kids Piggy Bank Appeal. Everyone is caught up in “finals footy fever” during the last week of September in Melbourne. Even Very Special Kids is getting into the spirit!
Metricon Homes and AXA Australia, major supporters of Very Special Kids will be going head to head as they hold the Final of their 2009 Handball Competition in the grounds of Very Special Kids in Malvern.
