2008 Piggy Bank Appeal - Piggy Bank Appeal

Thank you for your fantastic support of the 2008 Piggy Bank Appeal

We would like to say a very big thank you to our amazing supporters who helped to raise a sensational $1,019,419 for the 2008 Piggy Bank Appeal.

The million dollar announcement was by Australian Olympic Gold Medallist, David Crawshay and face of the 2008 campaign, the Gaythorpe family at a special ceremony on Wednesday 29th October.

This year the five giant piggy banks; George, Penelope, Patrick, Percy and Princess and their volunteer trail crews had a fantastic time on their trails and were kept busy making hundreds of public appearances. The Piggy Trails featured a total of 144 trail stops across Melbourne and regional Victoria which saw our trail crews and giant piggy banks traversing a total of 7575 kilometres over 14 days!
Activities are often centred around a visit from one of the five giant (700kg) piggy banks. The piggy banks: Penelope, Percy, Princess, Patrick and George drive throughout Melbourne and Victoria. They are accompanied by a wonderful group of volunteers, visiting hundreds of towns and cities to collect donations, sell merchandise and distribute information about Very Special Kids.

The 2008 Piggy Bank Appeal raised $1,019, 419 and we're aiming to raise even more during the 2009 Piggy Bank Appeal.

The first Piggy Bank Appeal was first held in 1998 and since then it has gone from strength to strength, each year becoming one of the most fun and exciting fundraising appeals in Victoria.
