| Pierce Blinman, whose family was the face of this year's Piggy Bank Appeal, made short work of the giant pinata, breaking it open to reveal how much had been raised through the 10th annual Piggy Bank Appeal.
Pierce was joined by his father, Ray and Channel Seven's Sandy Roberts who thanked the community for getting behind the Appeal.
Pierce's family is one of 770 Victorian families supported each year by Very Special Kids.
Speaking on behalf of the Blinman family, Ray said: "We are grateful to Very Special Kids on so many levels. They've helped us as a family, as a couple and individually. They've helped Carice through the sibling program and given Pierce a lot of independence through camps,activities and even respite from us when he stays at Very Special Kids House." |

| A piggy bank is born!
| In 1998, five giant piggy banks were brought into the world for a very important task. The giant fibreglass piggy banks were created thanks to BADJAR, Tattersall's and Big Fish. Their task: to spread the word about Very Special Kids and raise much needed funds so its support services could continue and expand to families in need.
Rod Bennett of BADJAR Advertising created the concept of the piggy banks including the giant ones. The majority of Rod’s initial ideas are still part of the Piggy Bank Appeal today.

| After the first Piggy Bank Week, as it was then called, in September 1998, the piggy bank fundraising concept grew stronger each year to become one of the most fun and exciting fundraising appeals in Victoria. From the start of the Appeal merchandise was sold and donations were collected throughout Tattersall’s Victorian network of Tattersall’s Outlets and Tatts Pokies Venues.
